Duane,
I think we may be able to make this ride. I live just South of Bakersfield about 80 miles. Thinking we can come up and meet everyone and go for the Saturday ride. Could boogy home after or perhaps stay with friends Sat night.
Just need information as to where you all are meeting Sat morning, at the Am. Best Value Inn? And what time kickstands up?
Looking forward to it.
Corventure Dave. |

We've always done kickstands up at 8:00, tanks full and ready to ride. The route we're taking doesn't have many fuel stops after mile 50 or so, so we'll probably top off in Isabella again.
We'll be leaving from Am. Best Value Inn parking lot.
Gonna be FUN! _________________ 2003 Hot Rod Yellow GL1800

Thanks Duane,
I have another couple interested in joining in for the day to ride. We are both GL1800's so the fuel range should not be any problem.

Duane,
Just made my reservation at the Hotel for Friday & Saturday Night.
The usual Mexican Food for an "informal" Friday Night gathering?
When are you going to surprise us with the "route"? _________________

Majority rules regarding Friday night. We can go back for Margaritas and Mexican, we can go across the freeway to Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, Denny's, or IHOP. LOL. Mexican sounds good to me. But then again, anything sounds good to a fat man. ROTFL.
The route will be the same as you posted a while back, I believe on the 'other' board. I don't have any scheduled days off anymore (due to the economy), so I can't promise I can scout any new roads. So, we'll just do a 'do-over' on ones we know are great. _________________ 2003 Hot Rod Yellow GL1800

Sounds Good! But I will ride over to the restaurant this time, Knee is getting better, but I don't want to be limping for a week after the ride...
-lol-
Map from the "2006" ride...
I'll have to dig around and see if I still have the GPS route stored from 2006... With the number of computers and harddrives I have gone through since then it might be a small miracle if I do find it...
Looking forward to the ride! _________________

Wow....after reading the list of folks attending it looks more like a GoldWing Rally rather than a ride. I'm looking forward to placing faces with names. _________________ We're not here for a long time, just a good time

I believe that is how all the "Big" and now Dying Rallies began. They have became too much of a commercial agenda instead of a group of like minded friends gathering to kick tires, tell lies and break bread together.
Who knows, maybe these are the beginning gatherings of the new "Aspencade" of the 70's... _________________

Never fear, Paul. I promise we won't have any pots or pans for sale like WingDing. _________________ 2003 Hot Rod Yellow GL1800

Thanks to Gordon over on the HDL board, I just found out that the hotel has changed names again sometime since I last checked. I posted that it was America's Best Value Inn, but actually it is now Baymont Inn. Same phone number, and everything. LOL.
It's kind of disconcerting, but it's also too late to change hotels. The JWs have everything in town locked up for their convention. So, short of canceling, we're stuck. Just pay for your rooms with a credit card instead of a debit card. That way, if things go sideways you can contest the charges. LOL. _________________ 2003 Hot Rod Yellow GL1800

Duane,
Do you think it would it be a good idea to verify our reservations?
Also, if anyone is interested, I found my Streets & Trips Map of the 2006 Ride, which is my understanding is also this year's ride.
I have converted it to a Garmin MapSource Route with 2009 maps installed. I just got Streets & Trips 2010 which finally creates GPX files making the conversion very easy!
I can email either format upon request...
Duane,
If there are any way-points I could add such as restaurants/Pool Party location that would be useful for the ride, It would be no problem to add them if you wish and send them to those that request via email...
Looking forward to the ride! _________________
