I think something came loose under the lower windshield garnish because my windshield will not stay in place after I adjust it and clamp it down.
What can it be ? Any ideas ?

There is a ratcheting device that holds it in place, one of the pirces probably slipped or came loose, you have to remove the front panel under the windshield to get to it, not a big deal to do that.

Sorry no pictures.... Buttttt
As long as nothing is broken in the slider or ratcheting....
If it's just not tight enough to hold after riding a while... like mine was...
take a look under the rubber boots at the side mirors. Here you will see the locking arm mechanism. Move the locking leaver up and down and you will see how it works. With mine, the light metal mechonism stretched enough that the windshield would slowly work it's way down after riding a while.
The fix is simple. Honda put a aluminum sleeve on the bolt that pulls the shield holding bar that runs across the front of the windshield. I removed the bolt and this aluminum sleeve. I then "carefully filed the length of the sleeve a few thousands of an inch at a time, reinstalling and checking how the unit tightened down on the locking mechonism, until this held the windshield just right. It only takes a little filing to get what I wanted.
Next time I will remove the bolt and replace it with an all thread bolt with lock nuts so I won't have to deal with the sleeve. With the all thread bolt I will be able to make adjustments without removing anything.

Have you tried washing it with a solution of 5 parts water and 1 part Viagra?

I decided to pull the front windshield cover off and take a look under it. I figured out how the clamping mechanism worked and then I took it off. There are supposed to be 6 rubber gizmos attached to the metal clamp thingy. ( How do you like my verbage ? ) Well, Mine was missing one in the center and the one on the right had fallen off.
So I cleaned everything, put the rubber back in place, then I made another spacer ( I guess that is what it is called ) out of friction tape and put it where the one was missing. SInce I was there, I decided to put a little piece of friction tape on all 6 pf the rubbers and I held them in place with some electrical tape just to help the clamping action be tighter. I reinstalled everything and BINGO, It worked !!!
But guess what I forgot to do ? There is a little plastic flap that goes under the hole in the front cover. I had to take the darn thing apart and put that plastic part back in, but since I did it before, it took me 5 minutes to do it the second time.
Boy was there a lot of dirt and bugs, but most of all there were about 50 dead dragonflies !! But not it is all clean and shiny for another 4 years.
P.S....you do not need to remove your mirrors to do this, just bend them back out of the way, remove the bolts and washers and be careful not to drop them.

A suggestion so you don't lose one of those little nuts down into the abyss; after pivoting the mirror so I can get to them, I stuff a rag down and under the nut before removing it. That way, if it gets away from me it lands where I can retrieve it with a magnet instead of disappearing into the black hole. Laughing

Then I installed an electric adjustable windshield so I don't have to fool with the manual adjuster anymore. Cool
